Wig Care

Wig & Hair Maintenance

Q: How should I care for my wig?
A:

Daily Wear

  • Place your wig on a mannequin head or satin hanger when not in use to maintain shape.

  • If wearing daily, use a bonet or satin pillow case to protect your hair while you sleep.

Washing

How often: every 10–15 wears or when product buildup is visible.

  1. Detangle before washing.

  2. Wet the hair with lukewarm water (never hot).

  3. Apply sulfate-free shampoo and glide downward in one direction — do not rub or swirl.

  4. Rinse thoroughly.

  5. Apply moisturizing conditioner from mid-shaft to ends.

  6. Let conditioner sit 3–5 minutes, then rinse in cool water.

  7. Pat & squeeze dry with a microfiber towel only (no rubbing).

Avoid conditioner directly on the lace to prevent premature shedding.

Drying

  • Air dry whenever possible but blow drying is perfectly fine.

  • Don’t sleep in the wig until it is fully dry.

Styling

  • Heat tool styling is fine but not excessively. Excessive heat tool styling will cause damage and shorten the lifespan of your wig.

  • Always use a heat protectant spray.

  • Avoid heavy oils; opt for lightweight serums.

Sleeping

  • If you must sleep in your unit:

    • Braid or wrap the hair.

    • Use a satin bonnet or silk pillowcase.

Storage

  • Store on mannequin head or in satin box away from direct sunlight.

Do Not

  • Do not scratch lace with nails, comb tip, or edge brush bristles.

  • Do not swim in saltwater or chlorine without full protection (swim cap + immediate wash and lots of conditioner).

Longevity Notes

Your wig can last 1–3 years with proper care depending on:

  • Frequency of wear

  • Heat styling habits

  • Product buildup & cleansing routine

  • Lace handling care
